All for a free and fair Kolkata Municipal Corporation election: Campaign shares numbers of candidates, local cops with voters

Four Trinamool Congress candidates in Behala contesting the Kolkata Municipal Corporation polls on December 19 are sharing their numbers along with that of the local police station officers-in-charge, urging voters to call them if they are not allowed to cast their votes.

KOLKATA: Four Trinamool Congress candidates in Behala contesting the Kolkata Municipal Corporation polls on December 19 are sharing their numbers along with that of the local police station officers-in-charge, urging voters to call them if they are not allowed to cast their votes.
The campaign comes after party national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee on Saturday urged candidates to ensure free and fair polls.

The banners with Banerjee’s photograph urged voters to cast votes between 7 am and 5 pm in favour of Trinamool and asked if they are prevented, they should contact the candidates or local OCs of New Alipore and Behala police stations.
Trinamool candidates of wards 116, 117, 118 and 119 have started this campaign. The banners also display the numbers of the local OCs as well.
Tarak Singh, Trinamool candidate of Ward 118 ward and a member of the outgoing board of administrators of KMC said that the message of the party is to safeguard democracy. “I have planned to go ahead with this campaign in Behala as democracy is the cornerstone of our republic.”
Krishna Singh, a councillor since 2000 and a candidate of Trinamool Congress of Ward 116, saidsaid: “It will help us have a better image.” Kakoli Bag, a Trinamool candidate of Ward 119, felt that democracy should be protected by all means. Amit Singh, who won in a bypoll in 2018 from Ward 117 and is re-contesting to retain the seat felt free polls is a must for democracy.
